International Listening Association (ILA)

Introduction: 
The International Listening Association (ILA) is a global family with a common bond – advancing listening practice, teaching, and research worldwide.

Since 1979, the ILA has been an international network supporting members from over 25 countries involved in shaping the art and science of listening in all contexts including education, business, healthcare, hospitality, spirituality, research, and the arts. The ILA is a dialogue space, resource network, news source, and worldwide community finding ways to enable listening cultures.

ILA members include: healthcare providers, educators, students, lawyers, business managers, entrepreneurs, hospitality workers, spiritual leaders, communication trainers, researchers, artists, scientists, dietitians, engineers, social workers, spouses, parents, and YOU.

In all we do, we strive to LEARN, TEACH, INSPIRE, AND COLLABORATE.

Mission
To advance the practice, teaching, and research of listening throughout the world.

Vision
To be the international leader of listening practices, teaching, and research. The mission and vision of the Association shall be accomplished in the following ways:
● The Association shall establish a network of professionals committed to promoting the study and development of effective listening.
● Members shall exchange information by sharing teaching objectives, learning activities, promotional methods and materials, and additional professional experiences.
● Members are encouraged to pursue listening research as listening affects humanity on multi-levels of economics, education, race, culture, and international relations.
● Members shall pursue management strategies and efforts promoting effective listening in government and business.
Internship Tasks:
● Based on a thorough knowledge of web user behaviour, to guide the Board and ILA members to define and develop prioritised content for the website
● Setting the overall direction of the ILA website, developing strategies and tactics to motivate existing ILA members and recruit new ones. 
● Ensure compliance of the website with all legal responsibilities
● To recommend ways to develop the ILA’s public profile utilising all appropriate public relations vehicles including social media
● Ensure that the website reflects the international membership and cultural differences of the ILA.
● Maintain and communicate up to date knowledge of website trends and developments
● Keep track of changes in social media usage and recommend updates to the Board in the light of a changing external environment Liaise with those involved in ILA social media working towards continuity in ILA digital presence
● Adhere to brand identity standards as agreed by the Board
● Facilitate liaison with other professional bodies and government agencies worldwide recommending ways to expand the ILA’s network of supporters and partners in line with the overall strategy.
● Compile reports using the site’s analytics
● Perform search and correct broken links on monthly basis
● Perform website edits and changes within 2-3 days of requests.

Requirements:

1. Qualifications
● Experienced web content developer with excellent English language copywriting, editing and analytic skills
● College or University degree in an appropriate subject area (or commensurate experience)
● Experience of managing a website

2. Experience
● Successful management of websites or social media
● Experience of management of conflicting priorities
● Experience in PR and/or social media
● Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Wild Apricot member management software
● Experience of compiling, analyzing and reporting on website performance using an appropriate web analytics

3. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
● Up to date knowledge of website trends and developments
● Excellent interpersonal skills
● Team player with high level negotiation skills
● Awareness of best practice, legislation and international standards relating to writing for the web
● Able to motivate members to get involved
● Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
● Able to meet deadlines and find ways to get things done
● Understanding of, and/or insight into, web user behavior

Creativity/Innovation: Develop new ways to improve the ILA website, creating new opportunities to increase membership. 

Foster teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set standards, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance the ILA digital presence, positively influencing others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the ILA. 

Organise: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information and activities.
