International Federation on Ageing (IFA)

The International Federation on Ageing fondly known as “IFA” is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) whose members are government, NGOs, academia, industry, and individuals in nearly 80 countries. IFA believes that all these members working together are essential to help shape and influence policy and good practices.

IFA stands to drive the agenda for the world’s population ageing. We are proud to have general consultative status at the United Nations. The International Federation on Ageing is a non-State actor in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO).

The IFA has general consultative status at the United Nations and its agencies, and is in formal relations with the World Health Organization. The IFA has been involved in drafting key initiatives such as the UN Principles for Older Persons, actively advocating for older people to be recognized in the Sustainable Development Goals, and maintaining a strong voice in the dialogue on how to best protect the rights of older people globally.

IFA’s Commitment to Older People
IFA drives the agenda of the world’s population ageing, so every older person can live their life to the fullest in a society that respects their past, present and future contributions.

Vision: A world of healthy older people whose rights and choices are both protected and respected.

Mission: To drive the agenda of the world’s ageing populations.

Goal: To be the global point of connection and networks of experts and expertise to influence and shape age-related policy.
Internship Tasks:
● IFA provides a supportive and respectful learning environment for students as they gain professional experience in an NGO setting. Effort is made to ensure interns are exposed to different aspects of the organization and that assigned projects provide hands-on, meaningful opportunities to contribute to the IFAs work.
● Internship activities may include literature reviews, gathering and analysis, multimedia projects, support writing internal and external reports, and administrative responsibilities.
● Interns are always expected to abide by the IFA employment policies and act in a professional manner. As part of their experience, interns will produce at least one policy brief or creative work (depending on the nature of the internship) that will be published on the IFA website.

Objectives
● Provide opportunities for students to gain professional experience and make meaningful contributions to projects that benefit the IFA community
