Foundation of Asia-Pacific Development Centre on Disability (APCD Foundation)

The Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD) is a regional center for those with disabilities and development. APCD was established in Bangkok, Thailand as a legacy of the Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons, 1993-2002, with joint collaboration of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Royal Thai Government and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Government of Japan.

APCD was endorsed by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) as a regional cooperative base for its Biwako Millennium Framework for an inclusive society in the Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons, 2003-2012. ESCAP identified APCD as the regional center on disability for the Incheon Strategy to Make the Right Real, 2013-2022. In cooperation with more than 30 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Organization for the Economic Co‐operation and Development (OECD) and the World Bank recognized APCD as a good model project globally for South‐to‐South Cooperation.

APCD is currently managed by the Foundation of Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD Foundation) under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The Government of Thailand resolved to establish APCD in Bangkok on 31July 2001. APCD began the implementation on 1 August 2002. According to the cabinet resolution, the management was transferred from the Government of Thailand to the Foundation of Asia‐Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD Foundation) under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in 2007.
Internship Tasks:
The internship programme aims to expose the intern to the day-to-day work and the missions of APCD, promote a better understanding of issues on disability and development in Asia and the Pacific, and to introduce the intern to the multinational working environment of APCD. 
The programme will enhance the intern’s international experience through practical assignments, along with providing the host department/office at APCD in various specialized professional fields. The students might be involved in jobs, such as drafting reports, developing proposal, making publications and collecting contents for the website and social media.

Requirements:
● The internship programme is open to students who are enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree course or other graduate programme with specialization in an area which directly relates to APCD’s substantive work topics.
● Fluency in spoken and written English
● Strong interpersonal and English communicative skills
● Proficiency in MS software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power point)
● APCD will not accept any responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during an internship and the intern, therefore, should have a health insurance coverage. 
● There is no expectancy of employment at APCD at the end of the internship.
● The intern undertakes to conduct himself/herself at all times in a manner compatible with his/her responsibilities as a participant in the APCD internship programme. 
● The intern must keep confidential any and all unpublished information made known during the course of the internship and not publish any reports or paper on the basis of information obtained except with the written authorization of APCD. 
● The intern will provide written notice in case of illness or other unavoidable circumstances which might prevent him/her from fulfilling the internship. 
● The interns should be able to support us, learn from us and exchange ideas with our staff. They may be expected to develop documents such as report, lesson learned according to what they have learned.
