Asian Licensing Association (ALA)

Mission
The mission of ASIAN LICENSING ASSOCIATION COMPANY LIMITED is to foster the growth and expansion of the licensing, creative and innovative industries by drawing together the experience and expertise of the industry practitioners. The Association aims to co-operate with the government and other statutory bodies to strengthen the licensing, creative and innovative companies, thus enhancing the overall business environment and competitiveness of Hong Kong. The Association also aims to provide guidance to the industry practitioners for making win-win decisions which are favorable to both their members and the general public. The Association plans to promote Hong Kong to become a licensing and creative hub in Asia within the next 10 years.

Chief Objective
● To promote Hong Kong as an international licensing and creative hub in Asia;
● To promote the commercial benefits of the licensing industry, the innovation & technology industry, and the cultural & creative industry to the other business sectors in Hong Kong and other Asian countries;
● To organize or co-organize activities related to licensing and creativity in order to promote Hong Kong as the international commercial centre in Asia;
● To enhance the professional standard of the practitioners of the licensing and creative industries through education and training in Hong Kong;
● To conduct research amongst practitioners of the licensing and franchising industries in Hong Kong and other Asian countries;
● To promote licensing through providing testing and certification service in Hong Kong in order to build up Hong Kong as an international testing and certification service hub; and
● To advise the Hong Kong government on public policies and legislations this may affect the development of the licensing and creative industries in Hong Kong
Internship Tasks:1 – 2 interns with business/marketing background: researching into international trend and development in the licensing business
1 – 2 interns with IP and contract law background: researching into development in international IP and contract law relevant to the licensing business   
1 – 2 interns with tax and accounting background: researching into development in international tax and accounting relevant to the licensing business   
The interns will be asked to write on the outcome of their researches in the form of ALA’s newsletter.
The interns will be asked to further research on the research currently undertaken by Poly University of Hong Kong and Lyon University of France covering licensing business in major Asian countries.

Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree (completed/ongoing)
● Fluency in spoken and written English
● Strong interpersonal and English communicative skills
● Proficiency in MS software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power point)
