Initiative for Science in Europe (ISE)

The Initiative for Science in Europe (ISE) is an independent platform of 15 European Learned Societies and Research Organizations operating within different disciplines and across sectors. ISE, founded in 2004, considers the role of learned societies pivotal to build an independent European Research Area that will be the beacon of a democratic, multicultural, and open European Society. ISE supports all fields of research at a European level, involves researchers in the design and implementation of European science policies, and advocates strong independent scientific advice in European policy making. Vision The European Research Area should contribute, through science, to three major goals: knowledge, benefit to society, and economic progress. ISE believes that researchers are central in delivering all three goals and contributes its ideas to policy makers. Mission ISE aims to help large and small learned societies and research organizations, from all fields of science, including the humanities and social sciences, as well as multidisciplinary associations be informed and involved on science policy issues at the European level.

● Identify the key players in the EU bureaucracy (administrators instead of decision makers)
● Do the same with some of EU member states
● Support the establishment of a relationship with the most important actors identified
● Do the same as above for journalists

● Bachelor’s degree (completed/ongoing). Political science, journalism and communication related majors are preferred
● Proficient knowledge of written and spoken English; other EU languages are welcome but not a strict requirement
