International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD)

The International Foundation for Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD) is a nonprofit education and research organization whose mission is to inform, assist, and support people affected by gastrointestinal disorders. The largest organization of its kind in the United States, IFFGD works with the general public, patients, families, physicians, providers, government officials, and payers to broaden understanding about functional gastrointestinal (GI) and motility disorders. The organization was founded in 1991. It is a licensed Wisconsin non-stock corporation, federal 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with non-voting members.

Our Mission
Our mission is to inform, assist, and support people affected by gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. 
IFFGD was founded in 1991 by one person struggling with the challenges imposed by a chronic GI disorder. Many others, from all walks of life, have joined with us.
We work with patients, families, physicians, nurses, practitioners, investigators, regulators, employers, and others to:
● broaden understanding about GI disorders,
● support or encourage research, and
● improve digestive health in the adults and children.
Internship Tasks:
The Media Intern works directly with the Public Relations Associate and closely with other staff members to design, implement, and facilitate IFFGD Projects related to various forms of media. The Media Intern contributes to the advancement and enhancement of IFFGD’s mission and programs. The position requires flexibility, the ability to multi-task, ability to work on and follow through multiple projects to completion, a willingness to travel, ability to work effectively with organized habits and skills both alone and as a team member, written and verbal skills, and computer literacy (Office Suite, Social Media platforms, video editing software) and the ability to supervise employees. 

This Position Profile is intended to provide an overview of the position. The Media Intern may be called upon to perform other duties not specifically described herein.

Position Description
Focused on, but not limited to:
1)Video Editing – responsible for the editing of IFFGD videos to create social media and marketing material for projects, such as
● Research on the Road
● Awareness Activities
● Meeting and Events videos that are pre recorded

2)Social Media – when called upon, the Media Intern will be responsible for posting and/or tracking material on IFFGDs social media platforms.

3)Website Content – work directly with the Administrator and closely with other staff members to design, implement, and facilitate IFFGD Projects related to various forms regarding our websites. 

 4) Other – other responsibilities may change as needed to advance the mission of IFFGD
● Increase knowledge base of medical terminology
● Assist in other projects/programs as developed
● Represent IFFGD at meetings/exhibits as needed 
● Assisting in the facilitation of basic office duties

Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree (completed/ongoing)
● Must be able to organize workflow, meet frequent deadlines, set priorities, work on multiple tasks simultaneously, be attentive to detail
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills. 
● Must be familiar with a variety of software packages
● Good people skills
● Willingness to travel and to contribute time in addition to normal hours, including weekends, when deadlines must be met or when traveling.
