Union of Portuguese Language Capital Cities(UCCLA)

UCCLA – Union of Portuguese-speaking Capital Cities – is an intercity association of an international nature, created on June 28, 1985. The founding act was signed by the cities of Bissau, Lisbon, Luanda, Macau, Maputo, Praia, Rio de Janeiro and São Tomé / Água Grande.

A true association of capital cities, representatives of free peoples and nations, the UCCLA has been the stage for fruitful and intense action of exchange and cooperation. It is an intermunicipal, non-profit association that proudly takes on the mission of contributing to the development and well-being of its people.

After 30 years, UCCLA currently has 43 cities (effective, associated and observers) spread across 4 continents and 45 supporting companies.

UCCLA intervenes in the field of decentralized cooperation and development cooperation, promoting economic, scientific, business and Lusophone culture, as well as professional training, basic sanitation, urbanism, finance and industrial cooperation. 

Its actions, in the scope of prevention, health and education, culture, infrastructure, sanitation and environment, rehabilitation and heritage, business and municipal training, and institutional, have developed over the 35 years in the universe of its member cities and, in a very positive way, have contributed to foster understanding, cooperation and economic development among its member municipalities. 
Internship Tasks:
● Collaborate in the activities to be carried out by UCCLA, in the cultural and International Relations field.
● Participate in the organization of exhibitions and conferences. We will organize an exhibition about the Portuguese Cartography on China, from October to December, in the National Portuguese Library.
● Support/maintenance the Observatory’s communication area by updating the content on the different platforms used (website, Facebook, twitter, blog), collecting news and relevant information.

Requirements:
● The knowledge of the Portuguese language. If the applicants cannot read or speak Portuguese, they must have a very good level of English in order to translate from Chinese to Portuguese or to English.
● Good English – Chinese translation skill.
● Have knowledge of history or of international relations between China and Europe.
● Must be creative, dynamic, entrepreneurial.
● Bachelor’s degree (completed/ongoing)
● Strong interpersonal and communicative skills
● Proficiency in MS software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power point)
