World Friendship Center, Hiroshima (WFC)

World Friendship Center was founded by Barbara Reynolds on August 7th, 1965 (20 years after the Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima) to provide a place where people from many nations can meet, share their experiences and reflect on peace. World Friendship Center has continued Barbara’s vision of serving the Hiroshima community and visitors to the city in a variety of ways.

Aims
Work toward world peace and nuclear weapon disarmament.
Internship Tasks:
Duties at WFC during the internship could involve but are not limited to: 
● assist in running the B&B such as guest intake, preparing breakfast, (no cooking required), shopping;  
● assist in English classes, e.g. Conversation English class; 
● prepare a presentation introducing yourself for “Friendship Afternoon” (i.e. plan the topic, make presentation, prepare flyer, etc.); 
● assist in organizing and running activities at affiliated organizations;
● other duties that may be assigned by the WFC or GCA directors.
During the residency in Hiroshima, the Intern is expected to:
● Prepare by reading and learning about Hiroshima, such as reading the book, Hiroshima by John Hersey.
● Reside and work at the WFC and assist them in their daily activities
● Make a presentation or write a report to WFC at the end of the Internship

Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree (completed/ongoing)
● Fluency in spoken and written English
● Strong interpersonal and English communicative skills
● Proficiency in MS software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power point)
