CANTO

CANTO is a non-profit association made up of operators, organizations, companies and individuals in the ICT (telecommunications) sector. The Association has a Caribbean focus as it relates to ICT issues for the region with a global perspective.
The policy strategy of the association is directed by a board of directors appointed by the membership. This strategy is executed by the staff of a permanent Secretariat located in Trinidad and Tobago. The association’ s activities are financed through the contributions of the members as well as other revenue generating projects.
CANTO consists of a general assembly, a board of directors, and a Secretariat, headed by a Secretary General who is supported by the Secretariat Staff.

Internship Tasks
1.Sales intern
JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist in the sale of advertisements for the company’s Annual Directory, Quarterly Newsletter, Web advertising and other publications. Assist in the sale of exhibition booth for the annual conference and coordinate all activities with exhibitors. Assist in securing Sponsors for Annual Conference, Annual General Meeting and other events as they arise.  Assist in recruiting new members to the organization. Work also involves administrative duties and maintaining the phone voice messaging system. 
KEY DUTIES: 
● Provide support to the Sales Specialist including, but not limited to, the compilation of sales packages and reports, tracking of new business, signing up members, collecting outstanding membership documents and doing the necessary follow up with prospects as required
● Assist in meeting weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly targets as assigned by the Sales Specialist
● Assist in the recruitment of members and ensure adherence to acceptance procedure and policies are instituted. Assist in Follow up to ensure completion of entire process including received in-house and invoices issued
● Work closely with the Finance & Administrative Department to ensure all client accounts are up to date including membership fees, invoices etc. 
● Assist in Compiling and management of the database of target contacts; as well as assist in preparation and implementation of customer Relationship Management portfolio.
● Assist in Preparing and submitting monthly sales plan and sales reports
● Assist in preparing and communicating list of companies targeted for sale of advertisements, exhibition, sponsorships
● Aid in the selling of advertisement for annual directory, quarterly cancion magazine, web advertising and any other publications in coordination with Budget targets
● Assist in selling exhibition booths and help in coordinating logistics with exhibitors for annual conference and trade exhibition
● Keep accurate record of daily activities and calls made in respect of each sale 
● Responsible for assisting in inputting and updating of client information in the respective CRM software. 
2.Business Development Intern
JOB FUNCTIONS
To serve CANTO in the capacity of Business Development intern and shall assist in carrying out such duties as assigned by the Secretary General and the Board of Directors of CANTO (hereinafter referred to as “the Board”) shall direct or assign.
KEY DUTIES: 
● Assist with the coordination and implementation of special projects as assigned to the Operations Department
● Assist in conducting research for applicable grants/funding programmes and business development activities 
● Assist in the for the coordination of all CANTO Working Committees
● Assist in the development of and the implementation of the associations Marketing and Communications Plan
● Assist in the planning and implementation advertising and promotional campaigns for all products, services and events on a variety of media (social, print etc.)
● Assist with preparing content for the publication of marketing material and oversee distribution
● Assisting in preparing and managing the association communications to stakeholders including letters, speeches, sponsor pitches etc. 
● Assist in Conducting market research to identify opportunities for promotion and growth
● Assist in preparing budgets and monitoring expenses
● Assist in the overseeing of social media marketing platforms
● Assist in the website management 
● Assist in Managing the Contact Database
● Assist in outbound or inbound marketing activities by demonstrating expertise in various areas (content development and optimization, advertising, events planning etc.)
● Assist in liaising with external vendors to execute promotional events and campaigns
● Assist in collaborating with marketing and other professionals to coordinate brand awareness and marketing efforts
● Assist in the planning and execution of initiatives to reach the target audience through appropriate channels (social media, e-mail, TV etc.)
● Assist in the execution of monthly and yearly marketing plans and reports
 
Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree (completed/ongoing)
● Fluency in spoken and written English
● Strong interpersonal and English communicative skills
● Proficiency in MS software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power point)
