the Design Alliance Asia

The Design Alliance (tDA) was founded by William and Lindsey Harald-Wong in the year 2000 in response to the Asian Financial Crisis.

The Alliance was later renamed The Design Alliance Asia (tDA Asia) in 2011. It is one of the most extensive collaborative networks of prominent designers in Asia with a shared vision of advancing Asian identity as a vital cultural force and a strategic platform for design.

tDA Asia is currently represented in 14 Asian countries/regions by individuals who rank among the best in and have contributed significantly to the design industries in their respective countries. These include:

The Design Alliance Asia promotes the original creativity of Asian designers by sharing ideas and knowledge of Asia’s common yet diverse cultures. tDA Asia works with organisations that promote design, design education, the arts, social innovation, and cultural exchange with a focus on Asia and the changing lifestyles of its people.

In addition, tDA Asia associates actively participate in international design conferences and exhibitions as well as consult on branding, visual identity, design and export strategies with governments and other organisations reaching out across the region.

HELPING ORGANISATIONS COMMUNICATE ACROSS ASIA
Through our association with tDA Asia, WHW & Associates is able to offer/assist in:
Region-wide design solutions
Localised variants—based on intimate knowledge of local language, culture, cultural sensitivities, regulations
Region-wide implementation and management of brand and corporate identities
Comprehensive service and consistent quality across region
Region-wide resourcing of photographers, illustrators, craftsmen, colour separators, printers, etc.
Lower production and distribution costs
A single point of contact for the whole region
Internship Tasks:
During their internship at tDA Asia, the students will be responsible
● to work on assignments given by individual members.
● to follow standard working hours: 9 or 10 am to 5 or 6 pm, Monday to Friday. (The working hours can be flexible as many staff work from home during this pandemic)
● to inform the administration in advance if the student needs to attend class or attend to some personal matters.
● there will be occasions when urgent work must be done over the weekends to meet a deadline. (This can be replaced with a similar number of days on weekdays)

Requirements
● Design related majors
● Bachelor’s degree (completed/ongoing)
● Fluency in spoken and written English
● Strong interpersonal and English communicative skills
● Proficiency in MS software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power point)
