The World Assembly of Youth (WAY) is the international coordinating body of national youth councils and national youth organisations. The full members of WAY are national youth councils. WAY has 140 member organisations from all continents.
Founded in 1949, WAY has special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC), and works in close cooperation with several United Nations agencies including: UNAIDS, UNEP, ILO UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNCTAD, and WHO.
WAY works for promotion of young people and youth organisations in programme areas such as: education, employment, environment, human rights, democracy, population, health, drugs, peace, gender equality, community development, and leadership training.
 
The World Assembly of Youth (WAY) was founded so as to bring young people from different societies, communities, and countries together so that they can share ideas, thoughts, and actions on how to improve cooperation on a global level and among the youth. As an international non-govermental organisation (NGO), WAY has the following aims:
● Increase inter-ethnic respect and foster inter-cultural and international understanding and cooperation.
● Facilitate the collection of information about the needs and problems of youth.  
● Disseminate information about the methods, techniques, and activities of youth organisations.
● Promote the interchange of ideas between youth of all countries.
● Assist in the development of youth activities and promote, by mutual aid, the extension of the work of voluntary youth organisations.
● Cooperate in the development of national youth councils of voluntary youth organisations.
● Establish and maintain relations with the international organisations, both voluntary and governmental.  
● Support and encourage the national movements of non-self governing countries in their struggle for national liberation.
● Promote tolerance, understanding, solidarity and cooperation among young men and women, irrespective of race, sex, language, religion or political orientation.
● Encourage the full participation of young men and women in the development process of their countries.
● Improve the equality between young men and women.
● Promote the democratic participation of young people both in their own organisations and in the life of society as a whole.
Internship Tasks
WAY have 5 departments at WAY headquarters: publication, research, IT, event management, international relations and fundraising. All interns will be placed at the WAY headquarters and work within these 5 departments.
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background and as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
● Assistance in drafting and preparing official documents
● Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings
● Document, research
● Assistance during conferences
● Logistics and protocol support for office events
● Working on web-presentation
● Social Media posts
● Evaluation of projects
● Speech writing
● Translation support for outreach materials
● Support for the production of WAY newsletter
● Support for WAY activities
● Report writing
 
Requirements
● The academic background should be either in IT, international relations, diplomacy, management, publication/ journalism, etc
● Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree (completed/ongoing)
● Fluency in spoken and written English
● Strong interpersonal and English communicative skills
● Proficiency in MS software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power point)
